Jeffrey Bessen is an experienced journalism professional with a strong background in editorial leadership and community-focused reporting. Currently serving as Deputy Editor at Richner Communications, Inc., since June 2010, Jeffrey leads a 25-person editorial team for a chain of 26 community newspapers and manages a pool of freelance contributors. Previously held roles include Senior Editor and Editor at Richner Communications, focusing on mentoring editors and reporters and overseeing editorial direction for the Nassau Herald. Jeffrey has also worked as an Editor at Suffolk County News and Islip Bulletin, where multiple writing awards were achieved, and as a Producer for a public access television show. An adjunct lecturer at Dowling College, Jeffrey holds a Master of Science in Mass Communication from Miami University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Broadcasting from Buffalo State University.
