Javier R. has a diverse work experience, primarily focused on the fields of energy storage and catalytic applications. Javier is currently working as an Energy Storage Domain Expert at SLB since February 2023. Prior to this, they co-founded RFC Power Limited in 2017 and served as the Chief Technology Officer until January 2019, overseeing the commercialization of redox flow batteries for grid scale energy storage. From June 2021 to February 2023, Javier worked as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. Before that, they co-founded and served as the CEO of SweetGen Limited for three years, leading the company in commercializing products for sustainable catalytic applications. Additionally, they worked as a Research Associate at Imperial College London from 2014 to 2020, focusing on electrochemical reactions and devices, including redox flow batteries and fuel cells. During this period, they also spent time as a Visiting Researcher at Columbia University in 2013 and worked as a Research Associate at the Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya from 2010 to 2013. Javier also has experience as a Technical Consultant at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Instituto de QuÃmica Avanzada de Cataluña. Javier began their career as a Marie Curie Fellow at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique - CNRS from 2006 to 2010.
Javier R. completed their education starting with a Master's Degree in Chemistry from the Universidad de Oviedo, which they obtained between 1999 and 2004. Javier then pursued further studies in Organometallic chemistry at the same institution, completing a Tesina de licenciatura from 2004 to 2005. Javier's educational journey continued as they attended Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III from 2007 to 2010, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Nanotechnology and Chemistry.
