Dawson Hettrick began their career in 2019 as an Engineering Intern at On Site Gas Systems, Inc. where they performed tests for research and development, led projects to communicate with the FDA, and reverse engineered micro boosters. That same year, they also worked as an Undergraduate Lab Assistant at UConn Health where they designed and produced model bone scaffolds using 3D printing techniques. In 2020, they worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at CooperSurgical, where they led multiple projects to assist in design verification and validation, collaborated with a cross-functional team to develop and design a new product, and ensured marketability of many products through rigorous material evaluations. Currently, they are an Associate Biomedical Design Engineer at RevMedica, Inc. where they are collaborating with a small team of engineers to design, develop, test, and improve a new stapler for laparoscopic surgery, working closely with vendors and consultants to create prototypes and meet deadlines, and owning a multitude of product development projects, managing resources and strict timelines.
Dawson Hettrick graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2021 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. Dawson began their studies in 2017.
