John Owens has worked in radio for over 25 years. John started their career as an assistant professor at Western Carolina University. John then moved to the University of Cincinnati, where they became the head of the electronic media division. After working at the University of Cincinnati for five years, Owens took a position as an advisor at Resonance AI.

John Owens attended Gallia Academy High School and then went on to complete their undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky. John then attended the University of Cincinnati for their graduate studies, earning a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy. John then returned to the University of Alabama to complete their post-graduate studies, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in music.
