Derek Rowsell is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Senior Corporate Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer at Resolver, a Kroll Business, since May 2023, where Derek provides primary legal services. Previously, Derek spent a decade at VMware as Senior Corporate Counsel, advising on diverse Canadian legal issues. Derek has also held significant roles in political campaigns, including Director for Rocco Rossi for Mayor of Toronto and Assistant Canvass Coordinator for the Eglinton-Lawrence campaign. Prior experience includes serving as Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at AOL Canada Inc., where responsibilities spanned legal compliance and contract negotiations, as well as positions as Associate Lawyer at Fraser Milner Casgrain and Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, focusing on corporate transactions and insolvency litigation, respectively. Derek holds an MBA in eBusiness and a law degree from the University of Toronto, complemented by degrees in literature from McGill University.
