Torsheta Jackson is an experienced journalist and educator currently serving as a Reporter for Report for America and as an Education Equity Reporter for the Mississippi Free Press. With a strong focus on uncovering educational inequities in Mississippi, Torsheta combines this role with freelance writing, producing articles for various local and national outlets since 2019. Prior to these positions, Torsheta worked as a freelance writer for the Jackson Free Press for over a decade, gathering news and crafting stories. Torsheta's teaching career spans multiple roles in various schools, where responsibilities included lesson planning, data evaluation, and coaching. Torsheta holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television Broadcasting from The University of Southern Mississippi.
