Gavin Shirley MRTPI has extensive work experience in the field of planning and project management. Gavin currently serves as a Development Project Manager at RES since June 2021. Prior to this, Gavin worked at Natural Power, where they held various roles over a span of ten years. These roles include Senior Planner from January 2020 to May 2021, Project Manager from March 2014 to January 2020, and Assistant Project Manager from November 2011 to February 2014. At Natural Power, Gavin was responsible for managing and delivering projects, coordinating environmental assessments, mentoring junior team members, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, and contributing to the growth of the Planning & Development division. Gavin also provided advice to clients on the necessary steps to achieve their objectives and actively participated in business development activities.

Gavin Shirley MRTPI began their education at The University of Edinburgh from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geography. Following this, from 2008 to 2009, they attended Heriot-Watt University, where they earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Urban & Regional Planning.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Gavin Shirley MRTPI has obtained several certifications. In September 2018, they received the "SP=EED Verified" certification from Planning Aid for Scotland. In April 2015, they became a Chartered Town Planner through the Royal Town Planning Institute. Furthermore, in April 2016, they obtained the "CSCS Academically Qualified Person" certification from CITB.
