Samuel Tonneslan

Lead Materials Engineer at Relativity Space

Samuel Tonneslan is the Lead Materials Engineer at Relativity Space. Samuel has also worked as a Materials Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Virginia.

Tonneslan’s core competencies include electron microscopy, materials characterization, and precision machining. At LLNL, they were a member of the Materials Characterization and NIF Target Fabrication Groups where they used lab tools and techniques to paint big pictures of the smallest details. Samuel also worked closely with Staff Scientists and Senior Engineers to hone in on the most powerful information in order to turn research ventures into success stories.

At the University of Virginia, Tonneslan worked as an undergraduate research assistant. Their duties included conducting research, writing papers, and presenting their findings at conferences.

Tonneslan’s experience and skills make him an asset to any team. Samuel is a creative thinker with the ability to see the big picture while also paying attention to the smallest details. Their experience in both research and development makes him a well-rounded individual who is able to contribute to any project.

The educational career for Samuel Tonneslan includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Science, Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Virginia. Additionally, they have a minor in Environmental Science from the same school. Samuel is also certified from WHA International, Inc. in Level 4 - O2 Analyze and from Lehigh University in Quantitative X-ray Microanalysis.

Their manager is Zachary Dunn, SVP, Engineering & Manufacturing. Samuel Tonneslan works with Luke Henderson - Design Engineer, Thomas Max Roberts - Robotics & Process Control Engineer, and Michael Hoganson - Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer.
