Vanessa Craig, PhD, RPBio, currently serves as the Chair of the Regional District of Nanaimo Board and as the Director of Area B, representing Gabriola, Mudge, and DeCourcy Islands. With extensive experience as a Senior Biologist at EcoLogic Research since 1999, Vanessa has contributed significantly to the development of best management practices for wildlife habitats and has actively participated in recovery strategies for various species, including the Oregon Spotted Frog and Pallid Bat. Vanessa has formerly held leadership roles with the College of Applied Biology, including two terms as President and Chair of the Ethics Committee, and also served as an Electoral Area representative with the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities. Vanessa holds a Ph.D. from The University of British Columbia and additional degrees in forestry and biology, focusing on ecological relationships in forest environments.
