Abdullahi Boru Halakhe is a seasoned advocate and policy expert specializing in human rights, security, and governance in East Africa and the Horn of Southern Africa. Currently serving as a Senior Advocate at Refugees International and a Senior Officer for Policy and Advocacy at the International Rescue Committee, Abdullahi has extensive experience developing evidence-driven policy agendas and collaborating with various stakeholders to influence decision-makers. Previous roles include East Africa Researcher at Amnesty International, where Abdullahi focused on human rights violations, Security and Governance Consultant at the World Bank, and multiple positions addressing violent extremism with organizations such as the European Union and USAID. Abdullahi holds a Master’s degree in International Security Studies from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University, complemented by a diploma in Radio and Television Production from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
