William Widmer is an accomplished photo editor and documentary photographer with extensive experience in both editorial and independent photography. Since May 2011, William has served as a photo editor at The New York Times, collaborating across departments to produce and publish news stories, while also contributing visual reporting on topics such as environmental racism and climate change. Notably, William has worked with a diverse range of clients including National Geographic, CNN, and The Atlantic during a nearly two-decade career as an independent assignment photographer. In addition to current representation by Redux Pictures, William held roles in design sales and marketing with liveBooks and completed an internship at the FiftyCrows Foundation. William holds an MFA in Documentary Photography from the Academy of Art University and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Cornell College.
