Asmaa Waguih is an accomplished independent photographer and photojournalist with extensive experience documenting conflict and social issues in the Middle East and North Africa. Since January 2018, Asmaa has worked with Redux Pictures while simultaneously contributing to renowned publications such as AP, EPA, Le Monde, Globe & Mail, UNICEF, and WFP since April 2016. Major projects include documenting life in Afghanistan under the Taliban, the Yemeni conflict from 2016 to 2021, and the collapse of the Islamic State's caliphate in Libya, Iraq, and Syria. Previous experience includes a role as a photographer at Thomson Reuters from January 2008 to March 2016, where coverage focused on key events during the Arab Spring, and freelance work for various agencies in Egypt and Iraq. Asmaa holds a Master’s Degree in Politics from UCL and a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from Ain Shams University.
