Zachary Taie

Engineering Project Manager and Senior Engineer at RedoxBlox

Zachary Taie has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Zachary started their career as a Forestry Aid and Forestry Technician at the U.S. Forest Service from 2009 to 2012. Zachary then worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Oregon State University-Cascades, where they conducted research on self-refueling natural gas ICE development.

Afterward, Taie pursued their Master's and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal-Fluid Sciences) at Oregon State University. During this time, they worked on projects funded by ARPA-E and the DOE Office of Science, focusing on micro-Combined Heat and Power Generators and Hydrogen Energy Storage. Zachary also gained research experience as a Visiting Graduate Student Researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where they worked on internal combustion engine-driven micro-CHP generators.

In 2019, Taie became a DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Fellow at Berkeley Lab. Zachary 'swork there involved the development and testing of PEM electrolyzer cells. Following that, they joined the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in 2021 as a Technology Manager for the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office. In this role, they managed a portfolio of projects related to hydrogen-supported microgrids, electrolyzer optimization, backup power, and industrial hydrogen use. Zachary conducted global market research and collaborated with commercial partners to drive the transition of low TRL hydrogen technology into commercial products.

Taie's most recent position, starting in 2023, is as an Engineering Project Manager and Senior Engineer at RedoxBlox. The details of this role are not provided. Overall, Taie has a strong background in engineering, research, project management, and technology development in the fields of hydrogen and fuel cells.

Zachary Taie holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Thermal-Fluid Sciences, from Oregon State University. Zachary completed their PhD program in 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, also with a focus on Thermal-Fluid Sciences, from Oregon State University in 2018. Zachary initially pursued their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Energy Systems Engineering at Oregon State University-Cascades and successfully completed it in 2014. In addition to their academic achievements, they received certification as an Oregon Engineering Intern from the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering & Land Surveying in 2015.
