David Johnson has a diverse work experience in the retail industry. David started their career at Bargain Harolds in 1990 as an Assistant Manager. David then moved to The Bargain! shop in 1992, where they worked as a Store Manager until 2007, and then as a District Manager until 2012. From 2012 to 2015, they worked at Red Apple Stores Inc as the Regional Director of Operations for Western Canada. In 2015, they were promoted to Vice President of Operations at the same company.

David Johnson attended Lundar Collegiate from 1975 to 1988, where they completed their high school education. Following this, from 1988 to 1990, they pursued a Business Administration degree with a focus on Marketing at Red River College Polytechnic.
