Software Engineer at Red Alpha

Erin Smedley has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Erin is currently working as a Software Engineer at Red Alpha since December 2022. Previously, from December 2020 to December 2022, they worked at BrainTrust Holdings LLC in the same role.

Prior to that, Erin worked at the United States Department of Defense, starting as a Science and Technology Intern in May 2017, where they provided documentation and maintained software written in Java. Erin then transitioned to the role of Software Engineer, Intern Lead, where they developed and maintained RESTful enterprise web applications using Java and various technologies for data persistence. In August 2019, they became a full-time Software Engineer at the same organization, where they developed, maintained, and tested operational software using React.js/Redux for the front-end and Java/Groovy Spring Framework for the backend, with the incorporation of Elasticsearch and Mapbox-GL with GeoJSON for data visualization.

Before their software engineering roles, Erin worked at Washington College in various positions. Erin served as a Sporting Event Manager, where they operated stadium equipment, managed spectators, facilitated competitions, and even acted as an acting supervisor when needed. Erin also worked as a Computer Science Tutor/Course Mentor, assisting professors in Computer Science courses and tutoring students in HTML programming language and GameMaker software.

Overall, Erin Smedley has a strong background in software engineering, with experience in developing and maintaining diverse software applications and working in different roles within the field.

Erin Smedley completed their education in a sequential manner, starting with their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and English at Washington College from 2013 to 2017. In 2015, they also briefly studied Computer Science at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Following their undergraduate studies, Erin pursued further specialization in Computer Science by obtaining a Master's degree from The Johns Hopkins University between 2018 and 2020.
