Andy Smith is a seasoned professional in laboratory operations with extensive experience across several leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Currently serving as the Director of Laboratory Operations at Recursion since November 2024, Andy previously held the same role at Exscientia from November 2022 to November 2024. Prior to this, Andy was the Manager of Laboratory Services at Vertex Pharmaceuticals from July 2017 to November 2022. Andy’s career began at Orchid Cellmark, where roles included Laboratory Manager, Senior Laboratory Analyst, and Laboratory Analyst over a tenure from September 2002 to July 2017. Andy holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Surrey, completed in 2002, and attended Rutlish Sixth Form College from 1995 to 1998.
