Shawn Whiting possesses extensive experience in the virtual reality and tech industries, currently serving as Head of Creators and Partners, Head of Marketing and User Acquisition, and Head of Community at Rec Room since June 2017. Prior to this role, Shawn held various positions including Organizer of Seattle VR Meetup from October 2015 to February 2020, Designer at Pluto VR from March 2016 to June 2017, and CEO of Convrge, a social VR app, from March 2014 to March 2016, during which time Convrge participated in the YCombinator Fellowship. Additionally, Shawn co-founded both Poliana, focusing on political data analysis, and King Crow Media, while establishing a community of VR developers through Nashville VR. Educational background includes a degree in Entrepreneurship from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Cinema and Photography, along with studies in Religion and Philosophy from Ithaca College.
