Phil Sowers has extensive experience in system administration and engineering, starting their career in 2001 as a Systems Administrator at SAIC where they provided server and workstation support to the US Army Space & Missile Defence Command. Phil later worked at Zen Technology and TEKsystems as a Windows System Administrator before joining COLSA Corporation in 2007 as a Senior Windows Systems Administrator & Site Manager supporting the Missile Defense Agency. Phil moved to TEKsystems as a Wintel Engineer in 2011 before joining QinetiQ North America as a Senior Systems Engineer and later transitioning to General Dynamics Information Technology in 2012. At General Dynamics, they served as a Senior Principal Systems Administrator Team Lead for 10 system administrators and also a Systems Engineer providing infrastructure hardware engineering support to their existing customers. In 2016, they started their own company, My Techno Guy LLC, before moving to Ready Support Services, LLC in 2020 as a Backup Systems Engineer providing large-scale enterprise engineering, operations and maintenance of multi-site backup and storage systems. Phil currently also serves as a Co-Owner/Manager of Commonwealth Property Investments LLC.

Phil Sowers attended Oakton High School from 1991 to 1994, where they received a General Studies Scholastic Diploma. Phil then attended Northern Virginia Community College from 1994 to 1996 and obtained a Communication Design Associate of Applied Science degree with a specialization in Interactive Design. During the same period, they also attended the Computer Learning Center and earned a degree in Business Computer Networks & System Administration with a focus on Network and System Administration. Additionally, Phil Sowers obtained several certifications, including ITIL Foundations v.3 from PeopleCert in July 2012, Certified Novell Administrator from Novell in June 1996, CompTIA Security+ CE from CompTIA in December 2010, and CompTIA Security ce, also from CompTIA, in March 2015.
