David Lee has a long and varied work experience. David began their career in 2005 as a Graduate Researcher at the MIT SENSEable City Lab, where they worked on the design and implementation of iSPOTS, a real-time visual representation of wireless activity across the MIT campus. In 2006, they interned at the International Economic Development Council, where they wrote an initial research document on nationwide trends in building conference centers, stadiums, and urban entertainment centers. In 2007, they were awarded a Fulbright Research Grant to research urban design in Seoul, Korea, and conducted interviews with academics, professionals, and government officials. In 2009, they worked as a Planning Intern for the City of Los Angeles and a Research Lead for the MIT SENSEable City Lab. In 2015, they were hired as an Application Engineer at Flux.io, and in 2016, they worked as a Software Engineer at Envelope City, where they streamlined geodata processing of New York City lot, street, and zoning data. In 2020, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at Outer Labs, where they are a Tech Lead with some managerial duties, and in 2023, they joined Ready.net as a Software Engineer.
David Lee attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2002 to 2007, where they earned a Master's degree in Urban Planning and Physics, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics. David then returned to Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2015, where they earned a Ph.D. in Urban Planning.
