Michael Owen has over 30 years of work experience in various leadership positions within nonprofit organizations focused on church engagement and humanitarian assistance. Michael currently serves as the Senior Director of U.S. Partnerships and Church Engagement at Our Daily Bread Ministries, where they coordinate efforts to make God's wisdom accessible to all. Before that, they worked as the Director of Church Engagement at World Concern, where they helped pastors and churches in the US engage in challenging places around the world. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Church Partnerships at World Relief, collaborating with local churches to bring about meaningful change in communities. Michael also held multiple roles at World Vision USA, including Director of Strategic Church Partnerships and Regional Director. Additionally, they have experience as an executive director, associate pastor, and youth pastor in different churches. Overall, Michael Owen has a strong background in fostering partnerships, strategic planning, fundraising, and team leadership within the nonprofit sector.
Michael Owen's education history begins in 1977 when they joined the US Navy's Nuclear Power Program. Michael served for two years and received an Honorable Discharge. In 1979, they became a transfer student at Oral Roberts University, where they studied Bible/Biblical Studies and Fine Arts until 1981.
Following their time at Oral Roberts University, Michael attended Central Bible College from 1981 to 1983. Michael obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Bible/Biblical Studies during this period. Continuing their education, they enrolled at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary from 1986 to 1989. Michael completed their Master's Degree with a concentration in MDiv Pastoral Ministries.
In addition to their academic pursuits, Michael Owen obtained various certifications throughout their career. In 1983, they obtained a Ministry License from the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Three years later, in 1986, they obtained their ordination from the same institution.
Michael also acquired the Institute for Campus Ministry certification in 1988, provided by the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Continuing their professional development, they completed the Prepare/Enrich certification offered by Prepare-Enrich in 1992.
In later years, Michael received training and certifications related to their career. These included InterDev Partnership Training from InterDev in 1999, Moves Management from World Vision USA in 2011, Blackbaud CRM from World Vision USA in 2012, and HEAT Training (Hostile Environment Awareness Training) from World Vision USA in 2013. Finally, in 2017, they completed the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Stay Safe Course provided by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
