David Schlimme has a diverse work experience, starting with their first role as an Officer-Artillery in the United States Marine Corps in 1988. David then moved on to work as a Design Engineer at Black & Veatch from 1993 to 1997. In 1998, they became a Design Engineer at Lee & Baldauf Structural Engineers for a year before moving on again to serve as Senior VP at Raymond Construction Inc. from 1999 to 2020. From 2020-2022, they were the President of Raymond Construction Inc. and currently serves as the President and CEO.

David Schlimme has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Kansas, which they earned from 1983 to 1987. David then went back to The University of Kansas from 1992 to 1993 to earn a Master of Science in Structural Engineering.
