Gilian Uy is a data science professional with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as a Data Scientist and Curator at Rappler since May 2023, Gilian previously held multiple positions at the Asian Institute of Management from September 2022 to April 2023, including Senior Data Scientist, Supervising Senior Research Specialist, and Adjunct Professor, with a focus on a Baguio smart city project. Prior to this, Gilian worked as a Data/AI Science Consultant at Thinking Machines Data Science, providing insights for COVID efforts and city planning initiatives between April 2020 and May 2021, and served as a Data/AI Scientist at the same company from July 2016 to February 2020. Gilian holds a Master of Science in Data Science from the Asian Institute of Management (2021-2022) and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics (Instrumentation Track) from the University of the Philippines (2008-2015), alongside ongoing studies for an additional Bachelor of Science degree at 42 since April 2020.
