Marlen Aguilar

Head Sommelier at Rancho Pescadero

Marlen Aguilar has a strong background in the wine industry, with experience in various roles as a sommelier and wine ambassador. Marlen recently worked as the Head Sommelier at Rancho Pescadero. Prior to that, they were the Wine Director at Villa Group Resorts & Spas. Marlen also served as the Head Sommelier at The Excellence Collection. Marlen has extensive experience as a sommelier, including roles at Mia Restaurant, Passion by Martin Berasategui, and Paradisus Playa del Carmen. Marlen started their career at Paradisus Playa del Carmen as a Wine Steward and later transitioned to the position of Jr Sommelier. Marlen also worked as a Wine Ambassador at Bodegas Pinord S.A. Their work experience spans from 2013 to the present.

Marlen Aguilar earned a Licenciatura degree in Negocios GastronĂ³micos y Empresas TurĂ­sticas from Universidad La Concordia. In addition, Marlen obtained several certifications including 2nd Level Certified Sommelier from The Court of Master Sommeliers in August 2018, 2nd Level WSET from WSET — Wine & Spirit Education Trust in November 2017, and 1st Level Introductory Course Examination from The Court of Master Sommeliers in August 2017.
