Konstantin Bobkov

Bioinformatics Senior Scientist at Rancho BioSciences

Konstantin Bobkov's work experience includes positions at various companies and institutions. Konstantin started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina in 1998 and later worked as a Research Associate at Duke University Medical Center from 2003 to 2005. Konstantin then served as a Visiting Research Investigator at the University of Michigan from 2007 to 2008. During their time at the University of Michigan, they also worked as a Lecturer from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, they worked as a Lecturer at UC Berkeley and as a Visiting Scientist at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

From 2009 to 2011, Bobkov served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Ohio State University. Konstantin then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the UCSF Institute for Human Genetics from 2012 to 2013. At UCSF, they were involved in various research projects, including the development of statistical models for next-generation sequencing data, studying chromatin structure and gene regulation, and investigating non-coding RNAs in epigenetics.

In 2013, Bobkov joined Takeda as a Staff Scientist, Bioinformatics. Konstantin analyzed cell-type-specific RNA-seq and microarray data generated via the bacTRAP technology and developed a bioinformatics analysis pipeline for the data. Konstantin also personally designed and developed a web-based software application for bacTRAP data access, analysis, and visualization, integrating several bioinformatics tools and GWAS data into the application.

From 2017 to 2019, Bobkov worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist II at Synthetic Genomics. Currently, they hold the position of Bioinformatics Senior Scientist at Rancho BioSciences, starting in 2019.

Konstantin Bobkov completed their high school education at Kiev school No 39 from 1980 to 1990, earning a High School Diploma. Konstantin then furthered their education at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv from 1990 to 1995, where they obtained a Specialist degree in Physics. Konstantin went on to pursue advanced studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1997 to 2003, culminating in the award of a Ph.D. degree in the fields of Physics and Computer Science.
