Dan Rozelle

Vice President Of Data Analytics at Rancho BioSciences

Dan Rozelle has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data science. Dan is currently serving as the Director of Bioinformatics and Data Science at Rancho BioSciences, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to this role, Dan worked as an Associate Director at the same company, where they focused on strategic initiatives and led bioinformatics product managers and teams in addressing complex analysis and engineering challenges.

Before joining Rancho BioSciences, Dan worked as a Bioinformatics Group Leader, leading a team of bioinformatics and data scientists. In this role, they oversaw various biomedical analysis projects, including building custom analysis pipelines, analyzing clinical trial data, and working on big data processing in the cloud. Dan held this position from June 2017 to December 2020.

Dan also has experience as a Bioinformatics Scientist, providing analysis consulting services for industrial and academic organizations. Dan conducted bioinformatic analysis for biotech and pharmaceutical clients and led data management and integration efforts for international consortium projects. This role spanned from May 2015 to May 2017.

Furthermore, Dan has worked at Pfizer as a Visiting Scientist in Virology and Next Generation Sequencing. During their time at Pfizer, they developed next-generation sequencing methods for virus detection and compiled a bioinformatics pipeline for viral metagenomic classification. Dan held this position from June 2015 to July 2016.

Earlier in their career, Dan worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory (NEIDL). Dan collaborated on the development of a viral hemorrhagic fever diagnostic and published research on the host immune response to poxvirus infections. Their tenure at NEIDL lasted from January 2011 to June 2015.

Dan's work experience also includes a role as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Davis, where they focused on aneuploidy in cancer and chromosome segregation. Dan genetically engineered chromosome segregation mutants and performed protein purification for a membrane-bound septin complex. Dan worked at UC Davis from September 2004 to September 2010.

Additionally, Dan worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, where they developed techniques for the quantification of energy storage in insects. Dan compared methods of lipid extraction and protein quantification to establish a reliable model for future metabolism studies. Dan held this position from February 2003 to June 2004.

Dan's early career includes a summer research internship at Biogen Idec, where they worked in the process sciences department. Dan received training in small and medium-scale cell culture for the expression of recombinant immunoglobulins and optimized B vitamin supplementation for CHO expression cells. Dan completed this internship from June 2002 to September 2002.

Dan Rozelle completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular Biology from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, from 2001 to 2004. Afterward, they pursued their doctoral studies at the University of California, Davis, specializing in Cellular and Developmental Biology. From 2004 to 2010, Dan successfully obtained their Ph.D. degree in this field.
