Dr. Foster graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and received his doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine. His internal medicine training was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Health Science Center in Dallas where he received the John S. Miller award for outstanding performance as a house officer. Upon completing his cardiology fellowship training at UAB in 1997, he joined the Birmingham Heart Clinic as an interventional cardiologist where he continues to practice and serve as president.
Dr. Foster is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology, as well as extending his interest in venous disease becoming a Diplomat of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. Following his passion to teach, he is a trainer for multiple interventional devices and serves as Chairman of the Birmingham - New Cardiovascular Horizons Annual Meeting.
Dr. Foster is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions.
