Zhenwei Zhao is an accomplished technology professional with extensive experience in engineering and machine learning. Currently serving as the Head of Engineering for the Search Section at Rakuten since June 2023, Zhenwei leads search service and architecture development. Prior roles include Principal Engineer at Garena, where Zhenwei led the Booyah machine learning team focusing on recommendations and anti-bot solutions, and Manager at Shopee, responsible for building a recommendation system from the ground up. Zhenwei co-founded Tapi Data Solutions, serving as CTO and Co-Founder, and has held various engineering positions at firms such as Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center, National University of Singapore, and Sun Microsystems. Zhenwei holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Computing with a Minor in Mathematics from the National University of Singapore.
