David Humphrey has a diverse work experience starting from 1998. David began their career as an Operations Research Analyst at Nortel Networks and moved on to become a Business Process Analyst at Railinc in 2001. During this role, they performed research and authored studies using data mining and statistical analysis techniques. In 2008, they were promoted to the position of Senior Analyst at Railinc, where they utilized extensive freight rail data to draw conclusions and create innovative performance measures. David served as an internal consultant for complex problems. In 2017, they took a break from their professional career to pursue their passion for reading books. David joined Railinc again in 2018 as a Senior Data Scientist, responsible for modeling complex business problems, integrating large datasets, and communicating insights to senior levels of the organization.

David Humphrey has a PhD in Applied Operations Research from North Carolina State University. David also holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE), both obtained from Purdue University. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained a certification as a SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 from SAS in December 2007.
