Steve Capus

Steve Capus has a diverse range of work experience in the media industry. Steve started their career at NBC News in 1993 and worked their way up to become the President of NBC News from 2005 to 2013. In this role, they managed all NBC News properties and oversaw the day-to-day operations, newsgathering, and programming.

After leaving NBC News, Capus worked as a Senior Media Executive/Consultant from 2013 to 2019, focusing on management, video production, crisis management, and journalism ethics. During this time, they also served as a Board of Trustees Member at the Newseum and as a Board of Directors Member at The Weather Channel/weather.com.

Capus has also held various consultancy and leadership roles, including serving as a Senior Advisor to the CEO at the United States Agency for Global Media from 2019 to 2020 and as an International Business Strategist at Alongi Media & Al Jazeera Media Networks in 2021.

In 2022, Capus joined Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty as the Acting President, where they are responsible for reinvigorating programming, expanding distribution, and developing strategic vision. Steve is also a self-employed contractor and works as a management consultant and strategist in the media industry.

In addition to their work experience, Capus has also been involved in education as an Executive in Residence at IESE Business School and has received recognition for their expertise in the field of communications.

Overall, Capus has a proven track record in media management, strategic planning, and consulting, with a focus on maximizing the reach and impact of journalistic services.

Steve Capus attended William Tennent High School in Warminster, PA from 1978 to 1981. After that, they went to Södertornskolan in Oskarshamn, Sweden, as an exchange student from 1979 to 1980. Capus then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs from Temple University, which they completed from 1982 to 1986.
