Ira Helsloot is a distinguished professional with a diverse background in safety, security, and risk assessment. Currently serving as voorzitter for Stichting railAlert since June 2019, Ira Helsloot emphasizes an integrated approach to rail safety in collaboration with various stakeholders. Concurrently, Ira Helsloot holds the position of member of the Raad wet onafhankelijke risicobeoordeling at the Nederlandse Voedsel en Warenautoriteit and is a professor of the politics of safety and security at Radboud University Nijmegen. As chairman of Crisislab, Ira Helsloot leads research initiatives related to safety governance. Previous roles include advisory positions at MBO Raad, the Ministry of Defence, and the Municipality of Amsterdam, as well as strategic advisory roles with TNO and NATO. Ira Helsloot's academic background includes a PhD in mathematics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
