David is Membership Director at the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development with almost 160,000 members around the world, where he is accountable for ensuring they continue to support the profession through continually improving the value and relevance.

David’s remit includes membership teams, Customer Service teams and colleagues supporting CIPD’s Professional Networks - including their incredible network of branches enabled by over 700 volunteers - and senior networks. He also leads their Regional and National teams in Wales, Scotland, N Ireland and the North of England supporting employer relationships and influencing policy.

He won Executive of the Year in the 2020 Association of Association Executives awards for the CIPD's growth and improvements in customer experience (NPS up 40pts in 2 years).

David is currently supporting a group of professional bodies looking to improve inclusion in their respective sectors. He is a regular speaker and writer on people and the world of work and on, in particular, technology and culture. David is a key spokesperson for the CIPD; regularly featured in industry and national media including the BBC, Forbes, The Telegraph, Wired, The Guardian and the FT.

David is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, Fellow of AHRI, Fellow of the Centre for Evidence Based Management (CEBMA), Fellow of the Learning and Performance Institute and also of the RSA.

He is also a member of the Economic Advisory Board for the Welsh Minister for the Economy.
