Karen Ortiz is an experienced compliance manager currently serving as the Gerente de Cumplimiento at Quijano & Associates since November 2016. In this role, Karen oversees the Compliance Department and has expertise in managing corporate services in jurisdictions such as BVI, Belize, Seychelles, and Panama, along with trust administration licenses in BVI and Panama. Prior to this position, Karen worked as an Abogada Asociada/Oficial de Cumplimiento at Lopez, Villanueva & Heurtematte from September 2013 to November 2016, where responsibilities included various areas of law such as corporate, intellectual property, administrative, labor, immigration, real estate, and banking regulations, and serving as the FATCA compliance officer. Karen's career began at Overseas Management Company as a compliance officer from September 2009 to September 2013. Academically, Karen holds an LLM with an emphasis in Corporate Law from Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua and a Licenciatura in Law and Political Sciences from Universidad Latina de Panamá.
