Frances Kato is an Optical Engineer II at Quartus Engineering, a position held since October 2022. Prior to this, Frances accumulated extensive experience at Lockheed Martin from September 2018 to September 2022, serving as an Optical Engineer, Optical Engineer Associate, and Engineering Intern. Frances began research work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the M. Zhang Research Lab at the University of Washington College of Engineering from October 2016 to June 2019, focusing on energy-efficient nanoparticle production and training lab members in various technical procedures. Frances also worked as an Optometric Technician with Dr. Dana Kindberg and Associates, managing patient interactions and utilizing diagnostic technologies, and volunteered at BURN Design Lab, testing stove functionality and efficiency. Frances Kato holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Washington and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering with a focus on Photonics at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, expected to complete in 2024.
