Giovanni Flores has extensive work experience in the field of battery safety and mechanical reliability testing. Giovanni currently serves as the SMTS, Battery Safety & Mechanical Reliability Test Manager at QuantumScape since 2022.
Prior to their current role, they worked at Element Materials Technology from 2017 to 2022. During their time there, they held the position of Manager of the Battery Department. In this role, they coordinated and conducted safety and reliability testing on lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. Giovanni also generated test procedures and expanded the scope of work in cell surveillance testing.
Earlier in their career, from 2012 to 2016, they worked as the Laboratory Manager and Research Assistant at the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE). In this role, they designed and executed component and assembly level reliability tests for leading electronic OEMs, medical, automotive, government, telecom, and ODM. Giovanni also performed various reliability testing and implemented failure analysis techniques/tools.
Overall, Giovanni Flores has acquired a deep understanding of lithium-ion battery testing standards, acquired excellent organizational skills, and demonstrated the ability to manage and complete simultaneous projects successfully.
Giovanni Flores completed their Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Tijuana Institute of Technology, from the years 2004 to 2010. Following this, they pursued an Advanced Special Student program at the University of Maryland, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Reliability Engineering, from 2014 to 2019. Most recently, from 2019 to 2022, they obtained their Master of Engineering - MEng degree in Reliability Engineering from the University of Maryland.
