João Alves has a diverse work experience in software development and research roles. João started their career as a Research Assistant at NLX-Group at FCUL in 2011 and later worked as a Researcher at LaSIGE/Navigators. João then transitioned to developer roles, working at BillForward, Vibrant Media, and Quintesse, where they specialized in Big Data development and backend services using technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Java. Currently, João holds the role of Senior Back End Developer at Quant and has recently been promoted to Engineering Lead.

João Alves obtained a Bachelor's degree in Engenharia Informática (Computer Science and Engineering) from the Faculty of Sciences University of Lisbon in 2011. João then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Information Security from the same institution, specializing in computer/information security and Distributed Systems, and completed their studies in 2013.
