Hugh Hind has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and academic institutions. Hugh is currently the President and Co-founder of Quadrical.ai, where they lead the development and implementation of their AI-powered SaaS engine. Hugh is also responsible for hiring AI experts and software architects and developers for the company's teams located in Waterloo, Canada and Gurgaon, India.
Prior to Quadrical.ai, Hugh Hind co-founded and served as the CEO of Cognitive Systems Corp. from 2014 to 2017. Before that, they held various roles at BlackBerry, including Vice President of Wireless Technologies from 2002 to 2014, Director of Protocol Stack Development from 2000 to 2002, and Software Developer from 1997 to 2000. During their time at BlackBerry, they played a key role in the development of the original BlackBerry handheld, the design of the BlackBerry cryptography system, and the development of data compression schemes.
Hugh Hind's academic background includes serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo from 1993 to 1996 and working as a Research Officer at the University of Reading from 1990 to 1993.
Hugh Hind has an education history that includes a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, which they obtained from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, spanning from 1985 to 1988.
