Martin Madill

Senior Scientist at Purespring Therapeutics

Martin Madill has a wealth of work experience in the field of biomedical research. Martin began their career in 2009 as a Lab Assistant at Megazyme International Ireland, where they gained experience in the expression and purification of proteins in E. Coli. In 2011, they started their PhD studies at NUI Galway, where they developed cell-based methodologies for assessing the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. In 2016, they became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Oxford University, where they established a cell-based assay to monitor the misfolding and aggregation of α-Synuclein in SH-SY5Y cells. From 2018 to 2021, they were a Senior Scientist and a Research Scientist at Autolus Ltd., where they focused on developing new methods to improve the generation of CAR-T cells and a novel method to introduce two viral vectors simultaneously into transduced cells. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist at Purespring Therapeutics, where they are aiming to both shorten the manufacturing process and improve the quality of CAR-T cell products developed.

Martin Madill obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Genetics and Cell Biology from Dublin City University from 2006 to 2010. Martin then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Regenerative Medicine from the University of Galway in 2010-2011. Finally, they completed a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, with a focus on Stem Cell Research, from the University of Galway from 2011 to 2015.
