Kelly did not begin her career thinking that she would lead technology projects. But in her life outside of work — as a banjo musician and songwriter — Kelly has learned to take the pieces of a song, the notes, and turn them into a melody. In her professional life, she has discovered that user needs mimic the notes that can make even the most complex system sing, if translated well. This holistic, harmonious approach is behind how Kelly sees the big picture of what users need to accomplish and turns it into actionable items supported by technology.
At PSC, Kelly leads a team providing project management support to Catamaran, a Michigan Department of Education – sponsored software system designed to track local school district compliance with federal special education laws and regulations. Kelly collaborates with the client to set the scope of the project and manages the team in translating the overall scope into clear goals and actionable plans. She ensures productive collaboration with project partners for timely deployment of system modules and improvements. Most importantly, Kelly keeps the team focused on designing products with user needs as a priority.
Prior to PSC, Kelly spent 12 years of her career in the public and nonprofit sectors, including the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the American Red Cross, implementing projects, programs, and systems to improve the lives of Michigan businesses and citizens.
