Prior to this role, McKenna was the Director of Advertising at Editorial Projects in Education from January 1987 to November 2002, where significant achievements included launching Teacher Magazine, increasing advertising revenue twenty-fold over 16 years, developing a skilled sales team focused on the K-12 education market, and establishing a successful long-term advertising strategy for the organization.
