Valerie Cruz has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Valerie began their career as a Sales Assistant at Bare Tan from July 2009 to August 2013. Following that, they worked as an Assistant Program Leader at THINK Together from January 2011 to May 2011, where they collected and evaluated data to assess the impact of the program on underserved communities. Valerie then served as a Supervised Visitation Assistant at the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center from September 2011 to May 2012. Valerie also worked as an MSW Intern in the Income Support Unit at the Community Service Society of New York from September 2013 to May 2014. Valerie managed grant portfolios and collaborated with beneficiaries to ensure adherence to financial requirements and policies. From May 2014 to May 2016, Valerie worked as a Program Manager at the Earth Institute at Columbia University, overseeing staff and operations, managing budgets, and cultivating partnerships. At the International Rescue Committee, Valerie held multiple roles. From June 2016 to March 2018, they served as an Account Manager in Institutional Philanthropy & Partnerships. From April 2018 to October 2021, Valerie worked as an Officer in Corporate Partnerships. Currently, they are the Associate Director of Corporate Relations at Prosperity Now, starting in November 2021.

Valerie Cruz holds a Master's Degree in Social Enterprise Administration from Columbia University. Valerie completed their Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, General at California State University, Fullerton. In 2022, they obtained a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental, Social, and Governance Strategy from the University of Colorado Boulder - Leeds School of Business. Additionally, they have a certification in Management Essentials from Harvard Business Publishing Corporate Learning, which they obtained in March 2021.
