Mark Buttress has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Mark started their career in 2006 as the Director and Founder of Graydot, a role they held until 2011. From 2010 to 2012, they worked at Private Property as the Graydot Business Development and Software Business Development roles. Mark then moved on to Fusion Agency Solutions Pty Ltd, where they served as the Managing Director from 2011 to 2015, focusing on managing and strategically planning the national roll-out of the Fusion software platform. In 2015, Mark joined MobilePay Networks as a Director until 2019. Additionally, in 2015, they also took up positions at Prop Data, serving as the Director - Business Development until 2018, and later as the CEO.

Mark Buttress attended St John's Preparatory School in Harare, Zimbabwe from 1985 to 1990. Mark then went on to study at St John's College in Harare, Zimbabwe from 1991 to 1996, where they completed their Cambridge A levels and Cambridge O levels in Business/Commerce, General, Biology, and Geography. Following this, Mark attended the University of Cape Town from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Science (BBusSci) degree in Marketing/Marketing Management, General. In 2000, they also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance, General at the University of Cape Town.
