Hasitha Kaushan's work experience includes a role as a Mentor at Google Summer of Code in 2023, where they are working with Ashwath Kannan on improving the translation reviewer experience on the Oppia contributor dashboard.

In 2022, Hasitha worked as a Software Engineer at promiseQ, primarily handling backend tasks using NodeJS and Python. They were also responsible for defining a release strategy for the web team and were involved in various development and deployment tasks.

Prior to that, Hasitha was a Co-Lead at Oppia Foundation starting in 2021, specifically focusing on the reviewer flow of the Contributor Dashboard of Oppia. They were responsible for streamlining translations and questions reviewer workflows. Before taking on the role of Co-Lead, Hasitha worked as a Software Engineer at Oppia Foundation in 2020, where they contributed to the development of the Oppia platform and created lessons on basic mathematics.

Hasitha also served as a Contributor at Google Summer of Code in 2022. They had internships as an IIoT Intern at Nikini Group of Companies in 2021, where they gained exposure to real-time project development, R&D, and PLC programming, and as a Junior Software Engineer and Trainee Software Engineer at Mobios Pvt Ltd. in 2016, where they worked on developing RESTful APIs, manipulating databases, and developing web applications using Java Server Pages and MySQL.

Hasitha Kaushan completed their Bachelor's of Science (B.Sc) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, from 2017 to 2021. Prior to that, they attended Ananda College from 2007 to 2015, where they focused on Physical Sciences. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a certificate in Problem Solving from HackerRank in September 2020, and completed a course on Object Oriented Programming in Java from Coursera in August 2020. Hasitha also obtained certifications in Android Application Development and Web Development from OpenArc Systems Management (Pvt) Ltd. in May 2013.
