Sammy Akif is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the fields of advanced technology and autonomous systems, currently serving as Vice President of Advanced Technology at Progress Rail since October 2018. Under leadership, a high-performing team was established that developed the first AI/ML/RL-driven controller for autonomous freight trains. Prior roles include Executive Director of Autonomy & Digital Solutions and General Manager of Automated Train Operation at SIDNI Systems Inc, where strategic vision and sales strategies were set for train automation products. Akif also held positions as Director of Sales at Predikto, Vice President of Sales at Nomad Digital, and Director of Sales and Product Management at New York Air Brake, where significant contributions were made towards sales growth and product development in the automated vehicle and predictive maintenance sectors. The educational background includes an MBA in Marketing from The University of Texas at Arlington and a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas.
