Jinlyung Choi is a Senior Data Scientist / Technical Lead at PrognomiQ Inc. since 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Engineer II and Senior Bioinformatics Cloud Engineer at Second Genome Inc. from 2019 to 2022. From 2015 to 2019, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Iowa State University where they developed a pipeline to design primers for high-throughput monitoring of antibiotic resistance genes, characterized carbon cycling genes from soil, created the first reference database of soil microbiome, predicted toxin producing Cyanobacteria with machine learning, designed primers for high-throughput qPCR microcystin genes, analyzed 16S rRNA gene sequencing for microbial community, developed a software for co-occurrence network analysis, evaluated farming strategies to mitigate antibiotic resistance gene, evaluated existing primers of coverage of antibiotic resistance gene, and characterized novel microbes. Before this, they were a Research Assistant at University of Tennessee from 2008 to 2015.
Jinlyung Choi obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biotechnology Engineering from Inha University between 2001 and 2008. Jinlyung then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville between 2008 and 2014. In 2019, Jinlyung Choi obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera, and in 2020, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning: From Data to Decisions from MIT Professional Education.
