P. Shannon Pendergrast has been in the biotechnology industry since 2001. From 2001 to 2003, they worked as a Scientist in the In Vitro Pharmacology Group at Archemix. From 2003 to 2008, they worked as a Principal Investigator in the Preclinical Discovery Group at Archemix Corp., where they supervised 2-3 Research Associates and developed semi-high-throughput mechanistic and phenotypic cell based assays. During this time, they also lead two multi-functional project teams for preclinical development of therapeutics. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as a Senior Principal Investigator/Alliance Manager in the Preclinical Discovery Group at Archemix, where they headed a multi-functional Project Team leading to a successful Developmental Candidate for Cardiovascular disease and lead a collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company in the Inflammation field. From 2011 to 2021, they worked as the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Ymir Genomics. Currently, they are the Senior Director of Exploratory Biology at ProFound Therapeutics.
P. Shannon Pendergrast obtained a BA in Biology from Rutgers University, followed by a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the same institution. Afterwards, P. Shannon Pendergrast completed a Post-doctoral Research in Biology (Transcription Activation) at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Additionally, P. Shannon Pendergrast obtained a certification from System Biosciences for the Graduate Exosome Training Workshop.
