Lukas Sommer has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Lukas started their career as a web developer intern at Plantage Berlin in 2008. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as an Interactive Web Developer at Plantage Berlin, where they contributed to projects for clients such as MINI BMW, Sony, Adidas, and Michelberger Hotel. Lukas then joined OneBeat Berlin as a co-founder and head of operations, managing events and concerts for upcoming musicians and artists in Berlin from 2010 to 2013.

In 2011, Lukas became the Head of Online at Michelberger Hotel & Restaurant, leading full-stack development projects and producing visuals for the hotel's events. Lukas stayed with the company until 2013. Lukas then embarked on a two-year travel project called "Good Things Everywhere" from 2013 to 2015. During this time, they traveled around the world, bartering their web development skills for room and board, primarily working on non-profit and social projects.

In 2014, Lukas worked as a Full Stack Developer at Openmind Projects in Thailand and at Leiden Observatory/Leiden University in the Netherlands. In 2015, they co-founded NuMundo and served as the Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the development and technology strategy of the organization. Lukas concluded their role at NuMundo in 2019.

Most recently, Lukas is associated with Producers Market, where they initially joined as a Lead Frontend Engineer in 2019. Lukas then progressed to become the Director of Engineering from 2019 to 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Engineering, leading the development and engineering teams for the Producers Market websites and applications. Their work at Producers Market involves building a two-sided direct sourcing marketplace and developing StoryBird, a consumer-facing application for transparent supply chain stories.
