Petra Donka has been working in the software engineering field since 2016. Petra began their career as a Software Engineering Intern at Scandit, and then moved up to Software Engineer, Tech Lead & Software Engineer, and Integrations Area Lead & Staff Software Engineer. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Engineering Manager at Prisma.

Petra Donka began their education in 2012 at the University of Konstanz, where they studied British and American Studies until 2014. In 2014, they also obtained an Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Later that year, they switched their field of study to Computer Science at the University of Konstanz, which they completed in 2016. In 2017, they obtained an iOS Developer Nanodegree from Udacity, and in 2014 they obtained a Web Application Architectures certificate from Coursera Verified Certificates.
