Sonja Zander is an experienced instructional designer currently working at Primary ITO | Te Pūkenga since October 2019. Previously, Zander served as an IELTS examiner at Massey University from April 2017 to November 2019, and as an ESOL tutor at Whitireia Community Polytechnic, where responsibilities included benchmarking assessments and ensuring compliance with NZQA criteria. Additional teaching roles include positions with English Language Partners New Zealand and New Zealand Language Centres, with a focus on English for Migrants and ESOL instruction. Zander has a strong background in English teaching, coordination, and curriculum development, having taught at various institutions since 2008. Zander also has freelance experience, working as a medical English consultant and translator. Zander holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, a Post-graduate Diploma in Second Language Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Spanish, all from Massey University.
