Richard Smith is a Senior/Principal Software Engineer and Innovator at Preservica, where responsibilities involve technical design and development of the main digital preservation solution, utilizing back-end technologies like Java and databases, as well as front-end technologies including HTML, JavaScript, and React. Prior experience includes roles as an Analyst Programmer at Tessella, contributing to various projects in science and engineering across public and private sectors using languages such as C#, Java, and R, as well as self-employment as a computer programmer utilizing APL, C#, and PHP. Richard also served as a Financial Engineer at First Derivatives, focusing on trading system development in New York, and completed summer work as a programmer at Dyalog Ltd. Richard holds an MSci in Geology from the University of Cambridge.
