Chris Ickert has extensive work experience in various roles. Chris began their career in 1992 as an F15 Crew Chief in the United States Air Force, responsible for maintaining and inspecting aircraft. Chris then worked as an Applications Support Analyst at Analysts International Corporation from 1996 to 1997. Following this, they served as a LAN Technician on contract with the City of Charlotte at Computer Professionals, Inc. In 1997, they joined Carowinds as a Systems Engineer before transitioning to Premier Inc. in 1998, where they held the position of VP, Infrastructure & Operations.

Chris Ickert obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus in the years 1993 to 1996. Prior to that, they transferred from North Carolina State University in 1991 after studying Business. In 2010, they attended Western Carolina University, though no degree or field of study is specified. In terms of additional certifications, Chris Ickert has obtained the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations Associate certification from Oracle in 2023, and they have also achieved the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals certification from Microsoft in both 2022 and 2023.
